9,000 geese arrive at Martin Mere

Autumn is well upon us at WWT Martin Mere as we welcomed just under 9,000 pink-footed geese on 24 September. The geese make the spectacular journey all the way from Iceland over the autumn and winter to avoid the harsher weather back home.
Thank you to our Reserve Manager Louise Greenwood, and Reserve Volunteer Graham Clarkson for these video clips.
Over the next few months, visitors will get the chance to see the pink-footed geese setting off at dawn, and returning back to roost at dusk, a moment not to be missed by nature lovers.
Take a look at our line-up of events:
North West Bird Watching Festival
On 18 & 19 October, join us for a weekend full of wildlife activities, guest speakers, and exhibitors.
