Whinchat at Middle Point

A noticeable increase in Swallows and Martins with a few Swifts in with them today, a male Whinchat at Middle Point/Tack Piece was also a newly arrived bird.

Tack Piece

Snow, 18 Barnacle Geese, 18 Shelduck, 23 Mute Swan, Little-ringed Plover, Avocet, 2 Common Sandpiper, drake Shoveler, Yellow Wagtail NE, 3 Teal, pair each of Tufted Duck and Gadwall, singing Lesser Whitethroat near Goose House.

Kingfisher Hide

The Kingfishers continue to feed their young, numerous visits with fish by both parents.

Rushy Hide/Peng Observatory

At least 7 House Martin feeding about the buildings, 10 Avocet, 2 drake Pochard among the ducks, singing Lesser Whitethroat along the lane near bridge to Martin Smith Hide.

South Lake

Drake Garganey, Four Egyptian Geese (also on Tack Piece), 19 Black-tailed Godwit, nesting Crane, 19 Avocet, 3 Mediterranean Gulls (two 3cy and an adult non-breeding plumage), 200 Black-headed Gull in a busy colony, 3 pairs of adult and a non-breeding plumage Oystercatcher.

Top New Piece

20 Avocet, nesting Crane, pairs of Gadwall and Teal, 6 drake Shoveler and 30 Shelduck, Sand Martins feeding over, 34 Black-tailed Godwit and Roe Deer.

Estuary Tower

Three Dunlin on southern Dumbles 'saltpan' + c25 flying over here and to estuary, Whimbrel, 4 Curlew (including white flag 28), a few Lapwing, 2 pairs Oystercatcher, 41 Canada and 14 Greylag Geese.
