Little Egrets
Wader numbers continue to increase with at least 11 Ruff now from Ron Barker Hide, with 4 Little ringed Plover and 3 Common Sandpiper. Up to 30 Black tailed Godwit were seen from United Utilities Hide and another Common Sandpiper was on the Mere.
The Barn Owl was seen from Harrier Hide this morning and 3 juvenile Kestrels were hunting around the reserve today. Common Whitethroat and a Chiffchaff are still singing on site with another juvenile Whitethroat feeding in the lush vegetation around the Mere with several Wrens.
Belated news from last Saturday of a record count of Little Egrets on site, 8 were seen from Harrier Hide, this is by far the largest count on site unless anyone else has counted more?
