Autumn fare.

The current activity is all Pink-footed Goose based with perhaps as many as 6000 birds on the reserve mid afternoon, although some estimate up to twice that number. There maybe more in the local area however it can be difficult to judge with birds coming and going with no certainty that they are different birds.

In among the Pink's 3 Barnacle Geese. Still early for the scarcer geese to arrive which would include Greenland/European White-fronts and Bean Geese.

Quiet still on the wader front with 41 Ruff, 20+ Common Snipe a few Black-tailed Godwit and 500+ Lapwing.

A male Marsh Harrier was new in around mid day, with at least two other imm birds present. Other raptors included 4 Common Buzzard, 3 Kestrel, 2 Sparrowhawk and 2 adult Peregrine.

A change in the weather as I type with a few spots of rain. You never know by this time tomorrow we may have had a few new waders / passerines dropping in!
