Great White Egret

A Great White Egret was seen mid afternoon from the Ron Barker Hide and then flew towards Woodend Marsh. Worth noting if you see anything interesting like this pop into the in focus shop or phone on 01704 897020 and we can disseminate the news to all concerned.

Another lovely day out and about around the reserve, even if it isn't exactly ideal for dropping in migrants on their way south. While it stays calm it's well worth a trip along the Reedbed Walk if you haven't ventured there already.

The Pink-footed Goose influx has stalled with just over 300 on the reserve early on. Currently 12 species of wildfowl on the reserve with most of the ducks in eclipsed plumage.

Hobby was the pick of the raptors which also included the usual 3+ Kestrel, 4+ Common Buzzard (more if you scan distantly), Sparrowhawk and 2 Marsh Harrier.

Waders included 4 Curlew Sandpiper, 1000+ Lapwing, 20+ Snipe and 8 Black-tailed Godwit.

A couple of Stoat showed well from the Ron Barker Hide. Kingfisher there too.
