Green-winged Teal

A drake Green-winged Teal was found from Ron Barker Hide today, so hopefully it will stick around for all to see this North American version of our Teal, now afforded full species status after spending many years as a sub-species.

Other sightings included a Peregrine showing well at times on the ground and in flight spooking the c1000 Lapwings, 50+ Ruff, Black-tailed Godwit and Snipe. Marsh Harrier, Common Buzzard, Sparrowhawk and Kestrel were also around today.

A Barn Owl was seen from Ron Barker this morning and the Kingfisher is still showing at times. Lot's of Pink-footed Geese in and out throughout the day with many coming in to roost this evening on the Mere.
