Good high tide this morning pushed a lot of Ducks and Waders onto the Top New Piece. There were over 1200 Teal with a scattering of Pintail and Shoveler among them, 150 Wigeon were grazing in the field when another 150 were flushed from the estuary by a Peregrine. Waders were great:
Golden Plover 8
Lapwing 240
Dunlin 2
Little Stint 1
Knot 1
Redshank 12
Spotted Redshank 2
Greenshank 1
Ruff 8
Good wader activity here as well 178 Black Tailed Godwit held a single Knot among them. There were 3 Curlew Sandpipers and around a dozen Redshank, only 1 Snipe this morning but scan around the edge of the scrape for more. There was a male Mandarin on the lake, 68 Shoveler and 230 Teal on the scrape.
Great views of 13 Cranes from here, 120 Wigeon with 20 Pintail were over the estuary and 3 Golden Plover were flying around
