Sightings

Very few reports today, but an interesting day with the first Little Ringed Plover of the spring which flew on to the Mere early morning in low cloud and rain. Also a single Ringed Plover and Dunlin around the Mere along with Oystercatcher, 40+ Black-tailed Godwit, 2-3 Redshank, Lapwing, Ruff, Avocet and Snipe bringing the total to 10 species of wader.

Other sightings today included 3 Pink-footed Geese around the edge of the Mere - presumably birds that will stay with us through the summer. Also 2 Whooper Swans on the Mere plus at least c50 down Curlew Lane this morning.

Less and less wildfowl everyday at the moment but all species still represented with Pintail, 100+ Wigeon, Teal, Mallard, Gadwall, Shelduck, Pochard and Tufted Duck still present.

Yesterday morning a pair of adult Mediterranean Gulls were brief visitors to the Mere.

A nice sight today was a group of 4 Roe Deer by the Mere.
