Rushy Hide & Peng Observatory

The redhead Smew was back on the Rushy this morning after its brief excursion out to other parts of the reserve.  There was no sign of any Common Sandpipers but a single Redshank, 10 Avocet and a pair of Oystercatcher were on the lower pond.

South Lake Hides

A Little Gull was sat preening on the mud at the south end of the wader scrape, best viewed from the Hogarth Hide.  A group of 8 Ruff were also feeding here, including a male in near full breeding plumage.  Across the scrape were 16 Avocet, 2 Black-tailed Godwits, 2 Oystercatchers and 8 Shelduck mixed amongst the Black-headed Gulls.
