Wader action to come..

With wader migration picking up the next few weeks should be interesting particularly if we get some weather fronts moving through. Currently we have a good selection on the reserve over the past two days which includes 150+ Black-tailed Godwit, 200+ Lapwing, 15+ Ruff, 6 Dunlin, 2 Common Sandpiper, Little Ringed Plover, Green Sandpiper, Oystercatcher and Snipe.

Black-tailed Godwit on the Mere

Raptor action has been confined to Kestrel (4+), Buzzard (3+), Sparrowhawk and Hobby (yesterday).

Common Tern are active around the reserve. Little Gull still present from the Ron Barker Hide this afternoon.

Grey Heron on the hunt

Great to see many Sand Martin hunting over the Mere today. Kingfisher from the Kingfisher Hide! Tree Sparrows in the usual areas also Linnets flitting about on the reserve.
