Plenty of juvenile passerines about

Heavy overnight rain followed by a damp morning may well have been responsible for a fall of passerines, the hedges were very busy with young birds which are now making their own way in life. A little patience in any sunny spot with fruits should reveal warblers, tits and finches, that includes our car park hedges and trees!

A Wood Sandpiper, 2 Green Sandpiper, 8 Black-tailed Godwit, 3 Gadwall and 10 Teal.

Rushy Pen

4 Green Sandpiper, 10 Black-tailed Godwit, 10 Lapwing and a few Teal on the lower pond, three Wigeon plus the hybrid male on the top pond.

South Lake

9 Ruff, 197 Black-tailed Godwit, 35 Redshank, 58 Lapwing, 5 Snipe and 1 Green Sandpiper were among the wader highlights, plenty of duck were also present with 58 Gadwall and 2 Pochard among the commoner species.

Zeiss Hide/Top New Piece

Over the tide at least 71 Ringed Plover, a non-breeding plumaged Little Stint and 200+ Dunlin joined 14 Redshank and 28 Black-tailed Godwit.

Holden Tower

The Peregrine, Marsh Harrier, a variety of passerines and 30+ Sanderling and 4 Oystercatcher were seen in flight over the estuary.
