Walk with a Warden at WWT Llanelli Wetland Centre this spring and discover wonderful wetland wildlife
Explore the Millennium Wetlands with our wardens for the second in a series of special “Walk with a Warden” events this Saturday at 10.30am (14 May, cost included in admission price, free for members).
Visitors will be encouraged to use all their senses to explore the wildlife highlights on our fantastic 80ha reserve and will gain a unique insight to how our wardens manage the diverse habitats for nature.
Senior Reserve Warden Brian Briggs said: “During our last ‘Walk with a Warden’ we were able to point out numerous bird songs and calls, which visitors were able to tune in to with the help of a parabolic reflector. We helped the group to identify hidden wildlife from their tracks, teaching visitors to recognise the prints in the mud made by otters, mink, grey squirrel, rabbit and fox”.
Brian added: “This time we hope to spot some early dragonflies and damselflies, spring flowers and butterflies. We also hope to point out to visitors some fantastic recent bird sightings including; Grasshopper Warbler, Mediterranean Gulls, breeding Lapwing, and hundreds of Black-tailed Godwits, which have moved into the Millennium Wetlands following all our tree clearance work last winter”.
