New times for daily animal talks

Our daily Chilean flamingo talks begin again on Saturday 16 February and, along with our daily commentated otter feeds, will now be held at a slightly different time

We originally withdrew them last year while the flamingo house underwent a major revamp - thanks to Marks and Spencer Energy Fund money secured by our Facebook supporters - as the birds were already being disturbed more than usual and we felt it best to give them as much downtime as possible.

A more detailed update on these fantastic new improvements to follow but they include an indoor pond, heat lamps to keep the temperature comfortable, UV lamps to help the birds process dietary vitamin D and keep their long legs strong, and solar panels to produce renewable energy to keep the lamps running, installed by Advanced Renewable Power Ltd (ARP).

With the works finished, we’ll be reinstating the public flamingo feeds twice a day from Saturday 16 February following straight after the otter talks. The new times are as follows:

Otter talks: 11.30am and 2.30pm
Flamingo talks: 11.45am and 2.45pm

We look forward to seeing you all down at their enclosure and sharing their story with you once again!
