Migrants

More new migrants over the weekend included the first Swift in the morning flew north and first Hobby was seen late in the day on Sunday, also a ringtail (fem or imm) Hen Harrier was seen briefly before heading off northeast on Sunday.

Also on the Mere were single Dunlin, Ringed Plover and now up to 4 Little Ringed Plover and later a Whimbrel dropped for an hour, while a further flock of 4 flew north. A pair of Mediterranean Gulls were on the Mere on and off throughout the day.

A Cetti's Warbler was occasionally in song near Ron Barker in the morning and a Barn Owl was out hunting all morning. A pair of Grey Partridge was also seen from the same hide.

At least 1 Common Tern was seen around the reserve while today there are two birds on the Mere. Still a few Ruff can be seen on the Mere with at least 5 today.

Just off site a male Yellow Wagtail was on the edge of the road along Curlew Lane on Sunday evening as well as the usual Corn Buntings.
