British Steel Hide

After a stormy week we still have a wide variety of waders out on the lagoons, though in smaller numbers, making it easier to identify. Redshank, Greenshank, Black-tailed Godwit, Bar-tailed Godwit, Knot and Dunlin have been seen recently. We have also had a high number of Wigeon seen out on the salt marsh with 73 being counted on the 21st. Little ringed plover and Common Sandpiper have also been seen on the Dafen scrapes. The stormy rain has helped the Dafen scrapes to fill up, hoping for more wading diversity in the weeks to come.

Millennium Wetlands

Our waterfowl have still been present on the wetlands weathering the storm, with Gadwall, Teal, and Tufted ducks being seen regularly. There are also some waders using the site after some recent habitat management, including 40 Lapwing, Black-tailed Godwit and a lone Redshank. Little egrets are frequently seen roosting in the trees in the afternoons so keep an eye out.
