About me

I joined WWT in July 2022 as Policy and Advocacy Officer. Before joining WWT, I worked in policy and public engagement roles on climate change and environmental policy in the Civil Service and NGOs. I am excited to work to restore and create wetlands because they are such powerful ecosystems that have such a wide range of societal and environmental benefits. This is a critical time to increase the UK’s wetlands and I am determined to ensure we make policy makers aware of this amazing opportunity and deliver the changes needed.

My role

I work with stakeholders across Government, political parties, business and wider civil society to raise awareness, build engagement and secure support for wetlands in the UK and globally. My work focuses on building a ‘Blue Recovery’ to the pandemic and in response to the climate, nature and wellbeing crises, through the creation of 100,000 hectares of wetlands. I lead on our work to achieve policy change on wetlands for blue carbon, natural flood management and water quality.

Experience and interests

  • Political intelligence, monitoring and reporting on wetland-related developments amongst stakeholder groups
  • Policy development and research, identifying policy barriers and developing evidence-based solutions
  • Representing WWT, building relationships with stakeholders and organisations
  • Advocacy, influencing stakeholder policy and plans affecting wetlands
  • Communications and campaigns, supporting colleagues to promote WWT policies and positions
