About me

I joined WWT in September 2023 after working in the environment sector for the past five years. I specialise in freshwater habitats, with a focus on ecosystem processes rather than specific species. With an interest in hydrology and nutrient dynamics, I’ve worked with water companies, LPAs and catchment groups to protect our designated sites from further harm by influencing strategies, schemes, policies and projects.

I’ve chosen to work with WWT in the Policy and Advocacy team to help protect, restore and create wetlands by engaging with policy makers to see the incredible value of these fantastic habitats for people and nature.

My role

I work with stakeholders across Government, political parties, business and wider civil society to raise awareness, build engagement and secure support for wetlands in the UK and globally. My work focuses on urban wetlands and wellbeing, showcasing the benefits our water-dependent habitats have for people. From social, mental and physical wellbeing to flood alleviation and urban cooling, wetlands are an essential, multi-benefit solution in mitigating climate change.

Experience and interests

  • Advocacy, influencing stakeholder policy and plans affecting wetlands
  • Political intelligence, monitoring and reporting on wetland-related developments amongst stakeholder groups
  • Representing WWT, building relationships with stakeholders and organisations
  • Communications and campaigns, supporting colleagues to promote WWT policies and positions
