The redhead Smew was back on the Rushy this morning after its brief excursion out to other parts of the reserve. There was no sign of any Common Sandpipers but a single Redshank, 10 Avocet and a pair of Oystercatcher were on the lower pond.

A Little Gull was sat preening on the mud at the south end of the wader scrape, best viewed from the Hogarth Hide. A group of 8 Ruff were also feeding here, including a male in near full breeding plumage. Across the scrape were 16 Avocet, 2 Black-tailed Godwits, 2 Oystercatchers and 8 Shelduck mixed amongst the Black-headed Gulls.
