Damselflies a Plenty

The sun has definitely come out now and brought the insects out with it. The damselflies are now out in force with blue-tailed, azure and large red being seen in large numbers and four-spotted chasers are also on the wing. From a butterfly point of view we have peacock, small tortoiseshell, orange-tip, green-veined white, small copper. The Summer Meadow Walk just seems to be alive with insects just now waiting for you to discover or just to soak in the atmosphere.

One of our swan nests has produced a cygnet this week, we have found a brood of shoveler ducklings and lapwing chicks have been seen in the Lochar Field. A reed warbler was heard singing on the Peter Scott Trail this morning to add to our growing list of warblers.
