Photography in Nature: Birds in Flight

Capture the elusive moment of birds in flight! September is the perfect time to take advantage of the influx of returning migrating birds from distant summer breeding grounds. Capturing fast movement is one of the more challenging areas in wildlife photography – as well as one of the most rewarding when everything goes to plan!

This workshop looks at the art of tracking and freezing high speed and unpredictable action. We examine the science behind shutter speeds, when to use which settings, and key functions and camera controls essential for high speed wildlife photography.

We look at how to achieve accurate focus, critical for capturing fast moving wildlife. This includes focal points, focal modes and focal areas; and how to use each to create beautifully sharp images.

This is a day of inspiration, stimulation and photographic agility – providing the tools and techniques essential for capturing a vast range of fast-moving subjects.
