When you download the Wetland Heroes app you’ll be asked whether you’re happy for us using anonymous information about you in order to improve the app and your experience at WWT Slimbridge Wetland Centre. But what does this mean?
What data does the app collect?
We use Unity Analytics to gather gameplay and device information when you use the Wetland Heroes app. The only user-level personal data collected is device ID and IP address. The other data collected includes hardware specifications and usage data. See more detailed information below:
- Device attributes: information such as the operating system, hardware and software versions, platform, screen size, and CPU/graphics characteristics.
- Usage data: information about how you use the application. For example, day of first session, day of last session, session length.
- Location data: specifically, the country.
- Custom event app data these are specific in-app events that some apps collect, and are contextual to the app. For example, app opened on-site, app opened off-site, length of time played, pack unlocked.
- Identifiers and network: device IDs and IP address. Note that for security purposes, we do not expose this information.
Why do you need usage data?
We collect this usage data so that we can improve the app. If you opt out, we’ll collect no data about how you use the app. We do not use your data for marketing purposes.
How do you collect data?
When you first open the Wetland Heroes app, you’ll be asked whether you’re happy for us to collect anonymous data on how you use the app, using Unity Data Privacy Plug-in. This plug-in allows you to opt-out of data collection as well as delete existing data. It also allows you to view the relevant information that has been collected about you.
You can change your data preferences at any time in the settings of Wetland Heroes, including clearing any data we have already collected, if you were initially signed up.
